Nara Chandrababu Naidu the Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh instructed staff to concentrate on building infrastructure in rural areas using money from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He stated that different government departments should maximize funding under MGNREGS to construct infrastructure in villages during a teleconference with officials of several departments on the Neeru-Pragathi initiative.

He suggested that the daily wage must be Rs. 187 per day, and the departments should also plan to offer 50 extra man days in drought-affected mandals.
