Microsoft had introduced version patch 1.9.5.0 for its recently released title, Flight Simulator, with many fixes. All these fixes were targeted at airports, aircraft, UI, and more. A couple of days later, the development team of Flight Simulator unveiled the latest news regarding the SDK, Feedback Snapshot, and more. The developing team has revealed exciting information for the virtual reality community. It has begun a closed beta for virtual reality in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The latest closed beta will be sent to the first wave of virtual reality testers through emails, which comprises Windows Mixed Reality users only. Meanwhile, the second wave of the virtual testers will include the non-Windows Mixed Reality community.

The latest episode, Around the World Tour, which displays a brief look at the continent, North America, has also been released. Meanwhile, the roadmap of development has already been updated. Even though the upcoming releases’ timeframe is still the same showcased as in its previous version yet the timeline of October has been detailed a bit more. It has been documented a bit more to reflect the release dates of several components precisely and names comprehensively.


SDK: The Recent Work

DevMode:

  • The latest Export Window will be made available to the users in future updates.
  • The Visual Effects System based on Node is almost ready, and the internal team will use it in production. It will be made available after the completion of internal tests broadly.
  • The developing team will continue to add new options, improvements, and small features to the tools.
  • The developers have implemented the auto-hide behavior currently, which is optional for listing one of them.
  • The team of DevMode as a background task is continuously working to enhance DevMode’s overall stability while paying particular attention to the Scenery Editor, Project Editor, and the Aircraft Editor. The feedback coming from the community is continuously helping the developing team to make the tools better every day by identifying and fixing bugs.

WebAssembly:

  • The file system functions based on the WASI layer have all been implemented now.
  • The developing team is forwarding the Mouse events to gauge through the callback.  They are preparing the latest GDI and its implementations for further release. Also, they have added the new samples, including bears and windsock, to the SDK.

The upcoming updates, Partnership Series, will focus on the collaboration of the developers with Azure, NAVBLUE, third-party partners, Cognitive Services, plane manufacturers, and few other surprises. Till now,  65 partners are involved in the Marketplace Partnership Program. Besides, the new six products have been added to the Marketplace Partnership Program.

The airplane simulator will be allowed to participate in the Developer Q&A program, which has been scheduled for Wednesday, 28th October, at 10:30 a.m. and a live program. Microsoft Flight Simulator is about to come to the gaming consoles Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One in 2021. However, the Flight Simulator is available on PC with support for virtual reality.
