  • Decoration of the house: Even months before Diwali, people start cleaning their house and paint the walls as well. Every year, people do this before Diwali because Diwali is the biggest festival of India where it is auspicious to keep the house clean and tidy. After painting the walls and cleaning the house, on the night of Diwali, the house is lit with diyas and candles to defeat the darkness and welcome the Goddess of wealth, Goddess Laxmi.

Bad things about modern day Diwali

  • Air pollution: It is not a hidden fact that people of almost all ages like bursting crackers on the night of Diwali. Crackers have become a way of celebrating Diwali in the modern era. These crackers create a lot of air pollution and because of which a lot of people are falling ill.
  • Noise pollution: Due to bursting crackers, there is also a lot of noise pollution. The night sky looks good on Diwali but it also creates a lot of loud sounds. Thus, people should not burst too many loud crackers on Diwali.
  • Health effects: Since people of all ages play around the fire crackers, a lot of them fall ill as well due to inhaling too much of the smoke.
  • Waste bi-products: The next day after Diwali is seen with a lot of waste cracker products spread all over the roads. It is very difficult to clean these spots. The solution for this is not burst crackers at all.

After going through all the above-mentioned facts, the only conclusion that comes to mind is that Diwali is great but we must not ruin the celebration by bursting too many crackers. The other factors remain the same but the factor of bursting crackers needs to be changed and immediate actions must be taken in this regard.
