The same is true of the few characters that Blowback has in spades. As a result, the action takes center stage and the character relationships become minimal at best. They do exist, and we watch as they sluggishly plot to rob a bank. Let's get to the heist; the less said about it, the better. Because of blowback, robbing a bank appears less sinister and risky, and although their lives may be in jeopardy, it seems like a simple task.
There's a catch, though. The rest of the group, Nick says, can divide the money from the lockers, but he alone will take the case inside. The group, like the audience, develops misplaced suspicion as a result since they are not linked enough to one another to be aware of what is happening in each other's lives. Following the theft, Nick is violently attacked by the other members, leaving him seriously injured and without the case.
From that point on, Blowback takes a backseat, with the major action being Nick's pursuit of those who betrayed him and the hasty return of his case. The police then pursue the case from behind, going after each suspect one at a time. There are numerous gaps throughout the process. What about the police who find him bleeding on the sidewalk and the police who are looking into the heist?
Why hasn't a connection been created to link the dots? What about the current plan, which Nick is unaware of? What transpired after he was hurt is not explained. The smooth flow of events, which provides Blowback the right amount of pleasure and energy, is what works the majority of the time. However, Blowback primarily feels predictable because it makes no attempt to break new ground within the parameters of the action drama.
