Must-Have Accessories for Your Pickup Truck

The pickup truck is probably the best vehicle to modify. There’s a plethora of accessories and gadgets that you can buy to beautify and make your vehicle more functional. The abundant selection of truck accessories can be overwhelming for any truck owner. 

To help consumers decide, I have listed down the top truck accessories that they should consider buying for their trucks. 

Led lightbars

Off-roaders primarily use them to improve visibility at night when it is more challenging to drive. These LED light bars come in different sizes, and you can mount them to various parts of the truck, like the grille, hood, tailgate, and rear bumper.

Rock lights 

These waterproof LED lights are installed underneath the vehicle. They help illuminate the trail, especially the debris and other elements like rocks that can harm your truck’s underbody.

LED bed lights 

These LED strip lights are very convenient to install on the truck bed. It illuminates the truck bed even when placed under a truck cap or a tonneau cover.  You can easily stick it to the front or rear part of the bed using an adhesive.

Wheel spacers 

You can install these to widen the stance of a vehicle. The round discs are installed between the wheels and rotors of large or wide truck tires like the Super Swamper Tires.

This truck mod is used to increase the vehicle height. Trucks or SUVs can easily avoid harmful elements such as rocks, deep snow, and mud while conquering a trail with additional ground clearance.

Spare tire carrier 

Though some trucks safely store their spare tires under the vehicles, spare tire mounts are typically installed on the truck bed. As we all know, a truck’s underbody is usually very dirty and covered with all sorts of debris when on the road or a trail. These mounts are very convenient and eliminate the need to go under a vehicle to get the tire.

Tailgate assist 

This accessory easily controls the drop of the tailgate. It features a gas-assisted traction strut that slowly lowers down the tailgate once it is opened. Installing it is very easy and doesn’t require drilling.

Truck bed rack 

Truck racks are made of steel or aluminum bars installed on the truck bed. They are typically higher than the bed itself. Installing them can increase the truck’s hauling capacity by allowing various equipment like ladders, canoes, rooftop tents, even bikes to be mounted on the vehicle.

Spray-in bedliner 

They are applied to protect the flooring of the truck bed. It has a special paint coating made of polyurethane or polyurea, or a mix of both.

Rubber bed mat 

If you don’t prefer spray-in bedliners or carpets, this is a good alternative. These types of bed mats are made of durable rubber material that prevents cargo from sliding around the truck bed. It also protects the truck’s bed flooring from spillage of any liquids.

Tow hitch 

It is a device attached to the truck’s chassis and is used for towing cargo carriers, bike racks, hitch steps, hitch covers, trailers, and other types of vehicles.

Running board 

Also called a footboard, is used to help passengers conveniently get in and out of tall vehicles like SUVs and trucks. It can also protect the sides of a vehicle from getting damaged by road obstacles such as curbs, stumps, and debris. There are two common types of running boards; the first are lighted running boards. This type has illuminated steps that make getting out of a vehicle more visible at night. While retractable running boards, as the name suggests, automatically swing out from underneath the truck once the doors are opened and automatically retract when they are closed.  

Bump step 

They are attached to a receiver hitch and used as a permanent step for easy access to the truck bed. It serves as rear bumper protection for parking mishaps or when the truck gets hit from behind.
