The clock could be running through TikTok.

With both political parties expressing concerns about national security regarding the danger that the wildly well-known China-owned and owned TikTok video app TikTok Tech experts suggest that Elon Musk's recent purchase Twitter could be the key to demolish the controversial Chinese TikTok's.

Since the $44 billion purchase of social media company, Musk, the world's richest person is looking in ways make his investment more profitable. Experts in the field say the solution could lie in a video component that can compete with TikTok and may even cut down on the video views of the dominant platform YouTube.

Digital marketing expert and CMO of Agency Partner Interactive Adam Rizzieri believes Musk is already on the way to establishing a viable YouTube platform that is a go-to in pursuit of his goal of developing Twitter to become an “super app” that is capable of offering users with a platform to blog, but stream video as well as a method to pay for items.

“What is true of a social platform today may be very different from tomorrow's reality,” Rizzieri told me.

Before Musk was officially appointed, Twitter had been moving towards integrating more video features in the social network platform.

In September, it unveiled two new features focusing on video for its app. The first feature, called”immersive media viewer, “immersive media viewer” allows users to view videos in the Vertical “full-screen mode” and view more videos by simply swiping up. Both features mirror TikTok.

The second feature focusing on video Twitter announced is a brand new video carousel that is located under the “Explore” tab. In this section that is called “Videos for you” spot which displays a selection of the most popular videos a user might be interested in seeing.

Musk is also expressing an interest in adding additional video elements in the app.

One of his first actions included asking Twitter engineers to restart Vine which is a platform for video which Twitter bought in 2012 for $30 million.

In a Twitter conversation with YouTube celebrity Mr. Beast on the number of each day's engaged users on Twitter as compared with YouTube, Musk hinted that the numbers could change “when Twitter offers good video and higher pay to creators …”

To enable Twitter to “really compete” against TikTok, Rizzieri said it must “continue to invest in their video sharing and event streaming capabilities.”

He also points out that Twitter users use the app to get the latest news, trends and the commentary that follows and commentary, whereas TikTok users typically look for entertainment or a way to divert their attention.

One area in which the author believes Twitter is superior to TikTok is its broadcast of live in-real-time events.

“Twitter is in the moment and TikTok captures and shares something that has already happened,” the CEO said. “Because of that, Twitter offers a value proposition that TikTok doesn't have.”

With a move into video on the horizon, Andrew Selepak, a social media professor at the University of Florida, doesn't think Musk can remove TikTokers from the wildly popular video app at least until the government gets involved.

Numerous agencies such as the FBI as well as the Federal Communications Commission, and many lawmakers from Congress have voiced worries about the possibility the Chinese government utilizing this video sharing app in order to control users and even manage their devices.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr has called for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States to ban the app because of concerns about users privacy. FBI Director Christopher Wray has voiced similar concerns.

He informed lawmakers in the last month that there are risks, including “the possibility that the Chinese government could use to control data collection on millions of users or control the recommendation algorithm, which could be used for influence operations.”

The warnings to be aware of TikTok as well as its impact aren't new.

The Trump administration has begun to sound alarms about the app being associated with China's Chinese Communist Party and tried to block the app in 2020.

However, President Trump's efforts were thwarted by Vice President Joe Biden in 2021 after Biden withdrew several Trump executive orders that sought to block new downloads for the apps. Biden also ordered to the Commerce Department to conduct a investigation into security issues that the apps pose.

In 2020 In 2020, in 2020, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which evaluates U.S. acquisitions by foreign buyers for possible security threats to the nation, ordered ByteDance to sell TikTok in the event of concerns about the risk that U.S. user data could be transferred to China's communist regime.

As of September TikTok CEO Vanessa Pappas informed the lawmakers TikTok is making “progress toward a final agreement with the U.S. government to further safeguard U.S. user data and fully address U.S. national security interests.”

With demands calling for this app to be rescinded Tech experts believe Musk could be able to come into the fray with a new app.

Selepak believes that it will require the complete ban of government on TikTok to allow Musk to be in a position to compete.

This is because TikTok isn't the only one competing against TikTok but also Instagram's feature called “reels,” which has attempted to compete with TikTok.

Selepak explained that video makers typically upload their video clips on TikTok and then convert the videos into reels, instead of leaving TikTok to Instagram.

With the current state of affairs the current landscape, he isn't sure Twitter's newly revamped Vine will be the “TikTok killer.”

This, however, may change if TikTok ceases to be an alternative.

In this scenario, Musk declared that Vine along with Twitter could take over as they move into the space – provided Musk is able to persuade creators to upload content to Vine over Instagram.

If TikTok is still available, Selepak said Musk could utilize Twitter to make an “big push” exposing the dangers of TikTok through essentially launching an “direct attack” against the CCP in order to convince users to change platforms.

However, that's not the most likely option given that Musk's other businesses, including Tesla and Tesla Motors, which have a large involvement in China.
