As we all know that world was badly hit by COVID 19. It didn’t only affect health but every professional sector of society. The disability services were also affected by it. It made people sick and they were not even able to provide basic services to any nursing home near me. Things went tough for aged people.

Even though people needed to stay at home but in the meanwhile support was also needed for aged people to live. In these tough situations, the only thing that could help was providing services with precautions. PPEs are the best solution for COVID 19.

PPE for NDIS Provider

Personal protective equipment is of different types. There are several protective equipments like surgical masks, gloves, glasses, aprons, and, face shields. The most common one is a surgical mask. It is required normally to enter any facility. Even it has been made mandatory by the government of Australia. It helps a lot in different ways like infection and other viral diseases.

Who Should Use Personal Protective Equipment In Disability Services

Excluding all others, a health worker needs to use PPE. These people stay in contact with patients and especially weaker ones. The aged person has a weaker immune system so the one who will stay in contact with him should take extra precautions. Surgical masks should be given to the patients specifically if they have:

Those who suspected to have COVID-19Those who have tested positive for COVID-19Those who are showing symptoms of COVID-19

Assessing Personal Protective Equipment

There are standards for PPEs developed by the government of Australia. It should be made sure the equipment used meets those standards. The staff who are on the frontline must use the quality maintained equipment. A few things thing to note about it are:

Reusable equipment should be clean properly or boiled after use.Equipment like surgical masks should be of perfect size. The protective kit should be disposed of properly after use.Make sure disposal is done after packing it in a shopping bag.

All organizations providing these aged care services should make sure all the staff members know how to use PPE. They must be trained properly after every period. Whenever a piece of new equipment is introduced the staff should be trained. They must read instructions and demonstration will be a plus point.

NDIS Services and Issues Regarding Supply of PPE

Support providers have limited resources and cannot afford extra stuff. So, they need to control the usage of provided stuff. The government does not give unlimited supplies. This is the reason NDIS service providers are facing a lot of issues and they are not able to give support as much as required by patients. Still controlled and smart use of PPE can bring out maximum results.

However, even during COVID-19 and on normal days precautions are really important. Service providers have to give services by following the standards. It might not be easy for a new person in the field to follow protocols. But after proper training and supervision, a person could get used to it.

Let's spread the word and make sure we keep ourselves safe during pandemics and on normal days. Cleanliness is important to keep the human body away from viral diseases and infections. Aged people or a sick person needs more care due to a weak immune system. Make sure you are availing services that are well trained for it.
