Long nails can cause permanent damage to toes when it bends into an unusual position. Be very gentle and patient with the pet while clipping. Start the clipping of the nail from the foot. When you are clipping, make sure to observe for the end of blood supply and ensure to avoid cutting too deep. If clipping goes wrong, it will be painful and will bleed. Never use cotton swabs as it might end up reaching too deep into the ear and may cause damage.
