So is not jumping to conclusions, but rather allowing individuals to demonstrate their abilities via their actions. Many good politicians are quite accommodating—they understand that people make mistakes or make poor decisions and that no one has a monopoly on the truth or performs flawlessly.
The greatest politicians I've encountered in Coimbatore can also charm people who disagree with them. I once shared a room with Clinton and a group of individuals he knew despised him. He was friendly and engaging, and he paid close attention to what they had to say; you'd never believe he had any notion what they thought of him. After that, I asked them what they thought as I walked out with them. “I still disagree with him, but what a nice fellow!” they all replied.
Over the years, I've been struck by the passion and determination of honest politicians in Coimbatore to get things done. When I meet with folks who want to enter into politics, I normally start with two questions: What is your energy level? What about your spouse or partner? Both are vital, since as exhausting as a campaign can be, serving in government can be even more so, especially if you're a politician looking to make a difference. A partner or spouse who is unsupportive is a recipe for disaster.

When it comes to the common good, good politicians can set aside political differences and strive for the greater good. They do not consider those with whom they disagree to be their adversaries.
