Hernia Surgery | Laparoscopic Hernia Repair Ahmedabad| Arham Surgical Hospital

Arham Surgical Hospital is the first hernia hospital in Ahmedabad to offer laparoscopic hernia repair through a single small incision for virtually all abdominal hernias regardless of number and size.

Laparoscopic Repair of an Unstable Hernia

A hernia occurs when the internal organs of the abdominal cavity are pushed through a weakened space in the abdominal wall. Hernias usually occur between your rib cage and the privates' space.

Hernias can be surgically repaired by closing the defect and using a mesh to strengthen the weak area. This can be done in a minimally invasive way using a laparoscope.

An inguinal hernia is a bead that forms when a portion of your small intestine or adipose tissue comes out of a weak spot in the gland or the ovaries or scrotum.

A femoral hernia develops near the groin skin or skin below the lower abdomen and upper thigh, folding to the side of the vagina. The bulge pushes into the femoral canal, which is the median of the nerves and blood vessels running in the thigh area.

Inguinal hernias are more common in men while femoral hernias are more common in women, but are uncommon.

Hernias usually do not cause any symptoms but can be found on a regular medical examination. Symptoms may include aches, pains, discomfort, or heaviness in the groin. Formed beads are more prominent when you stand up, cough or strain, and may disappear at bedtime when they slide back into the abdomen.

A hernia is sometimes trapped or strangled and cannot be pushed back into the abdomen. This is known as an atrial hernia. It is a serious situation where the blood accumulation to the hernia is arbitrated and may require an emergency operation.

Suggestions:

Minor hernias that do not cause symptoms are not usually treated and your doctor may follow a wait-and-see approach instead.

Surgery is recommended for pathological hernias that are enlarged or entangled. Surgery may involve repairing an open hernia with a large incision or laparoscopic surgery, a minor invasive approach with small incisions.
Laparoscopy is especially recommended for patients with recurrent hernias, bilateral inguinal hernias, and femoral hernias. However, it is not recommended for patients with very large hernias, laryngeal hernias, had pelvic surgery, or intolerance to general anesthesia. These patients usually need an open hernia repair.

Surgical procedure:

Laparoscopic hernias are repaired under general anesthesia. Your doctor will make some small holes in your stomach or groin, through which a small tube called a laparoscope and other special tools are inserted.
A video camera attached to a laparoscope sends large images to a monitor that guides your surgeon through the process. Your surgeon will push the bulge back into the abdomen and use a mesh to correct the deficiency in the weak wall.
