When we talk about the fire hydrants, red coloured pipe readily clicks in the mind. It is commonly used and most recommended for residential or industrial projects. If you have ever noticed, the red pipe is used for water circulation around any factory or building.

The fireman shoots water to clear the fire up to twenty stories building or even more. It is the main advantage of having afire hydrant system. Water technology is used here forfire suppression in small or large industries. As the water pressure goes higher, it is easy to restrict the widespread fire over the building. It needs some supporting equipment like a branch, hose pipe, water pumps, etc.

The necessity of Fire Hydrants:

Fire hydrants are essential for protecting any property from fire. It is not easy to control the fire without using these systems. It is quite easy to install the system and use it inan emergency. It is basic fire protection as we need it as mandatory equipment.

Functioning of Fire Hydrant System:

The installation consists of a huge pipe directly connected with a water supply to spread it in each outlet. Firemen need these outlets to fight against fire. Then water discharges in fire engine which is later pumped and sprayed over different angles of the building. Where the water pressure is quite low or the water supply is inadequate, hydrant pumps must be there for pressurising main fire outlets.

The pump station consists of the electric pump, jockey pump, stand-by pump driven by diesel, etc. The operation of pumps is automatic with the help of pressure switches in the hydrant system. The main pump and jockey pump relate to a common header.

It is necessary to keep the hydrant line filled with water. For any drop of the pressure of the Jockey pump, the differential pressure is automatically compensated by the pre-set settings. If hydrant valves are open, in that scenario there is too much drop of pressure. When the pressure falls to the pre-set limit, the main pump would start automatically. There is also a stand-by diesel pump in case of any failure or shortage of electric supply.

Advantages:

Fire hydrants are so strong that they can put out large or medium fires very easily. These systems are of long ranges. The system is explored all over the angles so that equal distribution of water is possible. The system does not appeal to any significant maintenance as there is a rare chance of water leakage.

Apart from these, fire hydrants have a long life. It is considered the best possible system to protect human lives and properties against gigantic fire.

Disadvantages:

Every piece of equipment has disadvantages to some extent, suchas fire hydrant systems. It needs manual activation. The flow of water is very strong for which we need at least two men for holding the hose pipes. The system is not that much flexible as we expect. Little improper installation or usage would be lethal for machines or instruments. So, come with a proper idea on installing sprinkler lines or hydrant.

There are many Fire Hydrant Suppliers in Delhi. But it is not the end to only use the fire hydrants as efficiency matters a lot.
