PlayStation 5 is an upcoming gaming console that is being developed by Sony. According to rumors, the gaming console is expected to release this year in November or December. But should you buy it or should you stick with your old reliable PS4? Well, that’s not an easy question to answer. So, to help you out and find the answer to this question, we are going to make both PS5 and PS4 compete against each other and see which one is better than the other. So, let’s get started.

Storage and Memory

PlayStation 5 comes with 16 GB RAM(GDDR6), which gives its users a much better gaming experience than PlayStation 4, which comes with 8 GB RAM (GDDR5).

Another great thing about PS5 is that it features an 835 GB SSD. However, PS4 features a 500 GB HDD, and PS4 Pro features a 1TB HDD. It is a great move by Sony to shift from HDD to SSD in the PS5, which will allow Sony to deliver a much better gameplay experience to PlayStation 5 users in comparison to PlayStation 4. Overall, PS5 is clearly more superior to PS4 in terms of storage and memory.

CPU and GPU

PlayStation 4 has a 1.6 GHz AMD 8-Core CPU. Similarly, the PS4 Pro has a 2.13 GHz AMD 8-core CPU. Whereas PS5 has a 3.5 GHz AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU.

PS4 comes with a 1.8 TFLOPS GPU (AMD Radeon GPU). Similarly, PS4 PRO comes with a 4.2 TFLOPS GPU (AMD Radeon GPU). However, PS5 comes with a 10.26 TFLOPS GPU (AMD Radeon GPU). Therefore, it is very clear that PS5 is much more powerful and superior to PS4 and PS4 Pro in terms of GPU and CPU power. Besides this, PS5 has a unique feature (Variable frequency feature) that allows it to use its power more efficiently and render a better gaming experience to its users.

Video Resolution

PlayStation 5 features an HDMI 2.1 port and supports 4K resolution (Claims to support 8K resolution). Whereas PlayStation features an HDMI 2.0 port and supports 1080p resolution. Similarly, PlayStation 4 Pro also features an HDMI 2.0 port and supports 4K resolution.

Although PlayStation 5 supports 8K, this feature can’t be utilized until the world has 8K ready devices to use it. However, until then, we can still enjoy our games on PS5 in 4K. Overall, PS5 is much superior to PS4 and PS4 Pro and can provide a much better gameplay experience to its users.

Games Availability and Compatibility

PlayStation 5 comes with a backward compatibility function that allows its users to enjoy their favorite PS4 games on it. Whereas PlayStation 4 does not have this feature. Besides this, PlayStation 5 will have its exclusive games like Resident Evil 8, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, etc.

Additionally, you can also play VR games on PS5, like PS4, because it supports VR technology. Overall, PS5 appears to be a better option than PS4 thanks to its backward compatibility feature and amazing exclusive games.

Controller Differences

PS4 comes with Dualshock 4 Controllers. While PS5 comes with DualSense controllers. These controllers not only look different from PS4 DualShock controllers in terms of style but also contain lots of new features like haptic feedback, microphone, Create button, which is going to replace the Share button on PS4 Dualshock 4 controllers, etc. It appears that Sony has made many significant changes in its controllers for giving its users a great user experience and making PS5 more amazing.

Price

PS4 comes with a price tag of $299.99. Similarly, PS4 Pro comes with a price tag of $399.99. Whereas PS5 is expected to come with a price tag of $499. Overall, the price difference between these two devices is not that big.

Conclusion

PlayStation 5 appears to be more superior than PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Pro due to its amazing features and power. Besides this, the price difference between PS4 Pro and PS5 is not that big too. So, if you are someone who is thinking of buying a PS4 for themselves, then we suggest that you should wait and buy a PS5 instead. It will be worth it.
