Aluminum ramps are developed according to the most demanding standards, using advanced technologies and our employees' rigor and team spirit. At Express Ramps, we are confident that our folding ramps make everyday life easier for wheelchair users and companions. Please consider the safety instructions to ensure the proper use of aluminum ramps.
Purpose and indications
Basic folding ramps are used to overcome obstacles such as steps, stairs, and verges or to access vehicles. They are suitable for manual, electric, or mobility scooters. The non-slip surface allows the tires to grip securely and prevents the wheelchair from slipping. The edges of our ramps also prevent the chair from sliding out.
Aluminum ramps are unsuitable for any use other than intended and can be dangerous. The dangers include, for example, exceeding the maximum load weight or uneven weight distribution of the wheelchair or scooter on the ramp. Please note that ramps are unsuitable for devices with a short distance between the chassis and the ground.
Safety instructions
- Carefully read the instructions in this manual before using the folding ramps.
- Before using, always check that the ramps are securely above the obstacle to be overcome. While using the ramps, drive the wheelchair or scooter at a moderate speed. Sudden acceleration or braking sudden movements must be avoided.
- Always ensure that the ground and contact surface are suitable and that the anti-slip strip on the tops of the ramps lands completely on the floor. The contact surface must be flat, firm, and dry.
- When ramps are used on a vehicle, always lock it.
- For safety reasons, we recommend not using the ramps alone, especially when you have to transport, discard, or open them.
- While using the ramps, we recommend using protective gloves.
- Do not dismantle the ramps.
- Write down the information regarding the maximum permitted load weight, the ramp floor's width, and the obstacle's height.
- Stay within the maximum values listed in this manual.
- Store the ramps in a dry place protected from the weather when not in use.
Folding ramp: Be careful – there is a risk of an accident! Do not squeeze your fingers between the side profiles or the articulation parts when opening or closing the ramp.
Aluminum ramps: after opening or closing the ramps, always insert the safety pin and turn it to lock the ramps. To avoid unintentional opening of the ramps, never hold them vertically while releasing the locking pin security or while opening them. When using the ramps, they must be aligned parallel to each other and must be placed at the same height. Also, ensure that the distance between the two ramps matches the wheel width of the wheelchair or mobility scooter.
Attention: Risk of injury! While using the aluminum ramps, never place your fingers on the floor. Keep the children away from ramps to avoid accidents.
Caution:
Warnings in the manual cannot cover all hazardous situations that may occur while using the folding ramps. It is, therefore, important that the user ensures that they are used carefully.
Cleaning the aluminum ramps
- Clean the ramps with a damp cloth, sponge, or brush and let them dry completely. Do not use product chemicals.
- Clean the ramps if they have dirt, grease, oil, or other impurities after each use.
- Before each use, ensure that the ramp floor, moving parts, and the anti-slip strip of the ramps are free from dirt, such as leaves or sand.
Maintenance intervals
There is no limitation on the useful life of aluminum ramps. The ramps are, therefore, reusable as long as a careful and periodic inspection is carried out. Inspect ramps before each use to avoid any damage (ramp floor, aluminum ramps, plastic parts, anti-slip strip, etc.) and especially the moving parts (safety pin/button, screw joints, rivet joints, hinges, etc.).
Misuse of folding ramps may cause damage or breakage. Defective or damaged ramps, as well as ramps with
signs of heavy wear cannot be used and must be replaced immediately.
Usage
Before using the aluminum ramps for the first time, check for any damage that may have occurred during use or transport. The photos below are not to scale and do not reflect the actual product, as it is subject to change.
Folding Ramps provide ease of storage and transport without compromising their robustness. This range ranges from ramps designed for wheelbarrows to models that support vehicles weighing more than 5 tons. These ramps can only be operated by 1 person, as they are equipped with side handles, which allow the vehicle driver to load/unload without assistance.
Aluminum ramps have a good weight/load capacity ratio and foldable advantage, facilitating storage and transport. The hinge system and side handles ensure easy handling during loading/unloading operations with small vehicles, such as pallet trucks, transport carts, etc.
The aluminum loading ramp is designed to be used by one person. The folding and extension of the ramp is carried out practically effortlessly, with the help of springs, which counterbalance its weight. Non-slip, perforated surface, suitable for adverse weather conditions: snow, rain, etc.
