The long-term legacy is part of a strategic partnership announced in September 2020 between CONCACAF, the Qatar Football Association (QFA), and SC, which is responsible for the infrastructure and operation of Qatar Football World Cup 2022.
The first phase of the social transformation football program, which begins in July, will see 11 CONCACAF member organizations participate, with successive phases reaching the region by 2025, ahead of the Football World Cup 2026, which will be hosted in the CONCACAF region by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The program was unveiled this week at a children's soccer event presented by CONCACAF and Generation Amazing in Houston, Texas, where several CONCACAF Gold Cup games are taking place. About 100 children have joined CONCACAF coaches, Generation Amazing legends, and others from the world of football to announce the game-changing program. Commenting on this important relationship, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of Qatar Football World Cup, said.
This is another important step for the Qatar Football Association, as we work with our esteemed organizations in the CONCACAF region to develop football at the grassroots level. This exciting partnership will enhance social inclusion and we look forward to co-creating a lasting human legacy in the region that hosts the next Football World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
