Reflection

The Tea Party that I have observed during this class is the first in my life and I have collected a few memories regarding it. First of all, the tea parties are crucial for supporting the relations within the sisterhood. It is obvious that events of that type represent more than merely the consumption of the tea or any other drink; it is an opportunity to unite with the like-minded people and discuss the news, ideas, and other information. In a certain way, the party turned out to be a controlled environment since everything was subjected to the clear and strict rules followed by those who participated in it. The tea party collected the representatives of a particular class of the society. To my opinion, those were the elegant women of status who had been previously approved to participate in the activities of sisterhood. The requirements for joining it are usually unwritten. The decorations of the event and the overall atmosphere were rather flamboyant stressing once again on the essence of the party and its role in the society. The tone of the event was aimed at spreading the prestige and fame of its organizers.

The tables that were arranged in a perfect order were dedicated to a certain theme. Conversations transformed into one collect noise full of happiness and joy. Whether it was sincere, it is hard to say; however, everyone tried to look better than the rest. The clothes worn by the ladies spoke for itself. They tried to compete with one another while not forgetting about their self-expression through the clothes and dresses. One of the most interesting notices involved the size of the hat: the bigger it was, the more influential was the person wearing it. Obviously, it was a polished tradition to spot the people by using this sign. Overall, the event was definitely held for the people of a certain class where they could enjoy informal communication and do some networking. This paper was written by Jon Jones.
