Design
The size has not changed much, the length is 1923 mm, the width is 745 mm, and the height is 1107 mm. The same goes for the mid-high spine, the stomped seat and the large curved front end. However, there are many cosmetic changes to keep the design up to date. The new dual LED headlights share space with the LED DRL and the LED indicator driven above it. The center of the front end is equipped with a large black windshield with a small number of sports air intakes. From the front, the overall appearance is a graceful arch. The front curve draws a line from the front. The sides have simple body lines. The rear with almost integrated armrests and smooth curved body panels gives an artistic and masculine appearance. The taillights are also equipped with LEDs with a more futuristic design. The exhaust port also has the same indentation as other motorcycles. Even small things like the pegs of the small chair and the engine on the pedal seem to be well integrated. Black 7-tooth 14-inch cast wheels, with airless 90/90 front 46P and rear 100/90 57P tires, combine the entire design. There are multiple color options-Radiant Gray Metallic, Pearl Metallic White and Happy Red Metallic-highlighting the motorcycle design in detail. The instrument uses a digital display to display odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, hours and fuel consumption data. Behind the apron is a lockable console box equipped with a 12V socket to charge the device. Under the seat is a 25-liter waterproof storage box, which is large enough to store a full-face helmet.
Driving and handling
The Honda PCX is a light motorcycle weighing 130 kg. With a wheelbase of 1313 mm and a pitch angle of 27 degrees, it has good maneuverability. The low seat height of 761mm, with raised handlebars, and ample space in the footwell make long-distance travel comfortable. As long as the rider is on a good city road, the ground clearance of 138 mm will not cause problems. The suspension itself uses a retractable front, and the rear uses dual shock absorbers. The seat also has better cushioning properties and is easy to hold up when there are twists and turns on the road.
Engine and fuel
Honda’s latest PCX is a liquid-cooled 149 cc 2-valve SOHC engine. The machine can produce 12.6 PS at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 13 Nm at 5500 rpm. Variable speeds via dry centrifugal clutches and V Matic gearboxes now provide better acceleration. It is also very smooth and calm. Equipped with a switchable start-stop system, it is also very high at a fuel consumption of 44 kmpl. Equipped with an 8-liter fuel tank, it can travel more than 350 kilometers.
Braking and safety
However, the Honda PCX’s brakes still have the same old configuration, with hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear drum brakes at the rear. There is also no ABS. Such a high price tag and the features offered by competitors may be the weakness of PCX. However, this scooter is equipped with a smart keyless device, which is equipped with an anti-theft device, an anti-theft alarm and a response system.
In conclusion
The new Honda PCX does offer a lot in terms of design and practicality. But the high price and incomplete features, coupled with this price tag, will definitely cause Honda cars to worry.
