The aortic aneurysm repair market is experiencing huge growth due to the increase in the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, the rapid adoption of inactive lifestyles, and poor dietary habits. Furthermore, the increase in the demand for innovative treatment methods and devices, as well as people becoming more aware of aortic, and its treatment options is anticipated to drive the market growth.

As per the latest report published by Allied Market Research, the global aortic aneurysm repair market is projected to exhibit a notable CAGR during the forecast period.

The increase in the prevalence of the geriatric population is driving market growth-

The increasing age of the population and the rise in risk factors such as hypertension and high cholesterol have resulted in a surge in the demand for aortic aneurysm repair devices and have contributed to the growth of the market. Furthermore, the development of medical technology and advanced treatment methods have improved the control of chronic conditions. As per the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 54 million people were living in the United States in 2019, accounting for nearly 16% of the country’s population. This number is projected to grow to 80.8 million people by 2040, and to 94.7 million people by 2060.

The rapidly growing geriatric population is projected to increase the total number of aortic aneurysm repairs over the next five years. All individuals over the age of 65 are at extreme risk of developing an aortic aneurysm due to the weakening of the aortic walls by the age of 65; the risk is also increased due to other cardiovascular conditions.

Technological advancements transforming the treatment procedures-

In most developed countries, such as the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom, traditional surgical procedures are gradually being displaced with minimally invasive surgery such as EVAR. In traditional surgery, it is necessary to cut to get to the inside of the body for surgery, which requires a lot of accuracy, focus, and surgical knowledge. Minimally invasive procedures, on the other hand, have a lot of benefits. They don't cause as much blood loss, don't leave as much scarring, and don't require as many incisions. Also, they usually don't take as long to heal, so patients don't have to spend as long in the hospital after the procedure. All of this means that more people are looking for EVAR procedures that are minimally invasive, which is leading to the growth of the aortic aneurysm repair market.

The new advanced aneurysm repair procedure has resulted in an 80% reduction in patient hospital stays-

London Health Sciences Centre is the first in the UK to use an advanced, non-invasive method to repair an aneurysm. This method reduces the amount of time a patient spends in the hospital by 80%, and it also improves recovery times by 11 months. Like every other healthcare provider, LHSC is committed to finding innovative techniques to make things easier and faster in the hospital while still providing excellent patient care.

LHSC's vascular surgery team recently came up with a new technique to treat life-threatening aneurysms. Not only does it reduce the amount of time a patient spends in the hospital from 4 weeks to 3 days, but it also reduces the amount of time it takes to recover from an aneurysm from a year to a month. Dr. John Landau, a vascular surgeon at the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) stated- “This is a significant advancement for us. Endovascular repairs are a common procedure for us; however, this new technique is so personalized to the patient’s clinical scenario that we can safely and efficiently remove an aneurysm, resulting in a quick recovery.” He said, typically, the patient would need to stay in the hospital for up to a few weeks after the procedure, but we've seen patients returning to their homes three days after the procedure.

EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair) is a procedure used to treat an aneurysm in the abdominal area. It's minimally invasive. Aorta is the largest artery in the body that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. To prevent the aorta from breaking, this life-saving technique uses a high-quality, custom-made endovascular stent graft. X-ray guidance is used to perform this procedure through a small cut in the groin. Approximately the size of a drinking straw, the procedure is designed to prevent the break of an aortic, a life-threatening condition, thus significantly reducing the risk of mortality or serious complications in comparison to a large, open surgical procedure. This minimally invasive procedure has been so successful that there are plans to perform a few more open surgical operations at LHSC, while further research into advanced endovascular procedures is ongoing.

Aortic aneurysm repair recent developments-

One of the key trends, such as in January 2022, Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. partnered with OrbusNeich Medical Company Ltd., has got FDA approval for their Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) Catheter called Scoreflex NC

Another key development, in January 2022, the Humacyte Co. described the preclinical findings of a small-diameter human acellular vessel (HAV) that was used for Coronary Arterial Bypass (CAB) Grafting.

Conclusion-

To conclude, the aortic aneurysm repair market is anticipated to grow steadily over the next few years due to rising aortic insufficiency rates, improving treatment options, and the development of healthcare treatments. The growth of the market will be further supported by ongoing research and development, as well as improved access to care and better control of aortic aneurysms worldwide.
