Mahamrityunjay Mantra Jaap Pooja In Trimbakeshwar :
Om Trimbakam Mantra is called Mahamrityunjay mantra which is the Rigvedic mantra. Mahahmrityunjay mantra is considered the most powerful mantra of all mantras. Chanting the Mahamritynjay Mantra is said to attain immortality.
Mahamrityunjaya word is formed from three words Maha, Mrityun, and Jaya which means wonderful, death, Jaya means “victory over death”. Chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra gives victory over death, and is also called as Rudra Mantra.
Mahamrityunjaya Mantra story:
Sage Bhrigu and his wife Marudamati had done penance to Mahadev to get a son. Lord Shiva was impressed with their prayer. Mahadeva asks them if they wanted a son short-lived with an intelligent mind or a long-lived son with a less intelligent mind. Then they got a brilliant son named Markandeya who lived for only 12 years.
When Markandeya's 12th birthday came, his father was sad. Markandeya did not understand the reason for his father's unhappiness. When Markandeya understood the incident, he sat in front of the Shivlinga and started his penance. When Yamadev came to take Markandeya, Markandeya wrapped his arms around the Shivalinga and did not let go of the Shivalinga.
Yama tried to take away Markandeya's soul but Lord Shiva punished Yama and gave Markandeya the Mahamrityunjaya mantra to leave him long life.
Hence, it is said that Mahamrityunjaya mantra helps to overcome mortality and sickness. And prevents premature death. This mantra consists of 32 words and after chanting Om it becomes 33 word, hence this mantra is known as Trayashtrishashari.
You can do this Pooja anywhere at home or temple. The puja l requires materials such as Ganges water, cow, milk, ghee, honey, sugar, white cloth, sacred thread (janeu), betel nut, basil and bel leaves, dhatura, hemp, sandalwood paste, rice, lamps. Chant this mantra 108 times during the puja. A garland of 108 Rudrakshas is used for chanting. Any mantra is chanted 108 times for its strength and effect.
Some Rules for Chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra:
1) Puja should be started with pure heart.
2) Puja should be done in front of Shivling.
4) Face east direction during chanting.
5) Mantra should be pronounced clearly.
6) Mantra should be chanted slowly.
7) Mantra should be chanted with moving the lips but in silent.
8) Meet, alcohol should be avoided while worshiping.
9) It is better to chant the mantra in the morning
10) Mantra should not be chanted after 12 noon
