Samsung Sam

Samsung Sam (Samantha) made its first appearance in 2021, and while it was linked to Samsung, Samsung never officially acknowledged its existence even till now.

We have a collection of 3D images of Samsung Sam on the internet that shows a cheerful, smart geek being a pro at using Samsung devices. But how did it come into the picture?

Who Created Sam?

Samsung Sam was created by a Brazilian design firm Lightfarm in association with Cheil, a marketing company owned by Samsung.

The intention behind creating this 3D-rendered model was just to showcase the idea of a metaphysical virtual assistant in human form. It was never meant to promote Samsung products.

However, Lightfarm already had the 2D version of Samsung Sam; they just redesigned it thoroughly and posted it on the internet, where it caught everyone's eyes. Many people thought Sam was here to replace Bixby (a current virtual assistant) on our phones.

Details About Samsung Sam

Anything attractive on the internet catches our attention too fast. And with those piercing blue, bright eyes, black bob haircut, and cheerful vibes, Sam got a lot of attention.

Many people mentioned Sam as their waifu (A fictional female character to whom one is romantically attracted). Her displayed character got popular overnight for her quirky vibes, who like listening to music, playing games on her phone, and clicking selfies.

Besides that, she wears a T-shirt bearing Samsung Galaxy's official logo reflecting the look of a big techie.

Lightfarm even disclosed the software used to make the character of Sam, amongst which are: Marvelous Designer, Adobe After Effects, Blender 3D, Adobe Photoshop, and SideFX Houdini.

Some even wished that Samsung Sam would replace amateur Bixby or that it could be the advanced version of Samsung's NEON virtual human assistant. Unfortunately, none of it was the case.

How Does Samsung Sam Works?

We must understand that Sam is not here to replace Bixby. Samsung Sam is a digital expert who will respond to customers' queries. It includes displaying Samsung functions, its products & devices, social networks, information about Samsung services, and nearby online stores.

One of the most important roles will be in the Samsung awareness camp for young generations and to provide information about the 5G connection on Galaxy S22.

As of now, we are not so sure about when Sam will be launched and what features it will have. But thanks to Samsung's current virtual assistant, who is performing almost every task you assign to her, including the understanding of natural language and performing a task as they want.

Here's how to activate Bixby on your Samsung device if you haven't already:

  • Go to your settings app
  • Click on the Advanced feature
  • Click on the Bixby key
  • Click on Get started and choose if you'd like to activate Bixby with a single or double press.

Will Sam Replace Bixby?

Some people say Sam was a part of a project that got deleted and rejected. And Samsung never used the finished output.

However, Bixby is one of the greatest AIs in the business and competes with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Cortana, and many other voice assistants. It also has a tonne of amazing capabilities.

As a result, Samsung has stated that Sam is only “the chat box” of the Samsung Service team and not a replacement for Bixby.

It doesn't appear that Sam will replace Bixby or even wind up as a virtual assistant on a Galaxy smartphone, regardless of if Samsung adopts the popular Sam design in the future.

Conclusion

Samsung holds history of creating excellent virtual human assistance. And it has never ceased to amaze us with what it could do.

Now that the demand for 3D virtual assistance has increased, the mere release of Sam has created a hope that it would replace the underwhelming Bixby and elevate the overall virtual assistance experience.
