The city is just warming up to the idea of food trucks. Over the last year or so, a few food trucks have popped up in different parts of the city. The latest to join the bandwagon is Southish, a food truck initiative from Sathyam Cinemas. Parked right outside the popular cinema hall, you just can’t miss the bright yellow food truck on Whites Road side. It serves fresh south Indian tiffin items, from fluffy idlis to ghee-soaked Pongal, all priced reasonably.

Launched about a month ago, the truck has seen a steady stream of foodies, waiting to get their hands on the delicious snacks. The food is served in biodegradable boxes and most of the items in the menu are easy to eat from this box. The food truck operates from 5 pm onwards and is open till 11 pm on weekdays. On weekends it is open till about 1 am to cater to the huge rush of cinema-goers.

The team at SPI cinemas insist that the recipes of the dishes are different from ID, their signature brand. However, there is no compromise on quality of food. Also, they intend to keep the food reasonably priced.

Sathyam plans to set up close to eight or nine food trucks across the city over the next few months.

We can’t wait to try them out!
