As they get older, cows face many of the same issues as people do. They can get confused and forgetful, and also get weaker and more fragile. While, unfortunately, many cows don't make it to old age, there are now quite a few rescues and sanctuaries that are letting them live out their golden years peacefully.

There are a few things you may want to do differently for an older cow. For one thing, you'll need to make sure that your older cows aren't getting pushed away from the troughs at feeding time. You may want to keep a few older cows in a separate pasture. Cows are very sociable, and they need buddies. And, just like most of us, they like being around others of their own age.

You'll also need to be careful of slips and falls. Be sure that your footing is sturdy. You may want to put sawdust or manure down in slippery areas. Extra bedding will be appreciated as well.

Be sure to contact your pet clinic Westminster, MD for more advice on cow care.
