Selective laser sintering (SLS) is a high-tech way to make things using a special 3D printing method. It's used in industries to create prototypes and actual parts quickly, sometimes even in just one day. They use different kinds of nylon materials that make the final parts super strong.
Here's how it works: First, a thin layer of plastic powder is spread out. Then, a powerful laser melts specific parts of this powder layer. This process is repeated layer by layer until the whole thing is done.
Once the printing is finished, the whole bed of powder with the parts inside is taken to another station. There, the parts are taken out of the powder bed. First, they brush off most of the loose powder by hand. Then, they use bead blasting to clean off any leftover powder. Finally, the parts go to the finishing department to get them ready for use.
