Shirataki noodles have a great natural source of fibre and because they have little taste of their own, as they tent to take on the taste of the foods cooked with. They therefore make a good addition for both sweet and savoury dishes. Here are some fun and healthy Shirataki noodle recipes for the dieting members, who happen to have a bit of a sweet tooth.

Shirataki Apple Desert

Ingredients

2 ounces of Coconut oil
3 ounces brown sugar
1 packet Shirataki Fettuccini noodles
1 large tin apple puree
1 cooking apple

Method

Preheat your oven to 200`C

Rinse the Shirataki noodles twice, once cold once hot cut into smaller strips

Melt half of the coconut oil with half of the sugar in a pan. Add the noodles and toss until sugar has melted

Layer the noodles then apple puree, noodles and finish with apple puree

Sprinkle remaining sugar on top

Core and Slice the cooking apple in thin slices and arrange on top

Add remainder of coconut oil

Bake in oven for 20 minutes until apple slice are cooked or sugar has caramelized

Serve hot

Ingredients

1 packet Shirataki angel hair noodles
20 ounces of cooking apples cored, peeled and sliced
10 ounces of pitted prunes
Juice of one lemon
4 ounces g brown sugar divided as 3 and 1 ounce
3 ounces cornflake crumbs
2 ounces butter
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt

Method

Preheat oven to 200`C

Place apples, 3 ounces of the brown sugar, prunes and lemon juice into a pot and cook slowly, takes about 20 min.

Whilst keeping an eye on that

Mix the remaining sugar, cinnamon, corn flake crumbs with the butter until a crumble texture is achieved

Now open and rinse the Shirataki noodles, then chop finely.

Mix with fruit before placing in an ovenproof dish.

Add the crumble mixture over the top, covering the fruit.

Bake for 30 min until crumble is crispy

Serve hot

It is best to use fresh apples when preparing this dish as the tinned kind affects the taste of the dish, resulting in a bland desert.

For a nice variation exchange the apples with farm fresh peaches and add a few cloves whilst cooking.

Another healthy treat, where the noodles add not only bulk to the desert, they also add much needed fibre to ones diet. Fibre that is crucial to those intent on weight loss.
