August employment figures hit 27,085,000, down 274,000 jobs year-on-year.
The Xinhua news agency reported that the figure continued to contract for a sixth month, dropping 195,000 jobs in March, down 476,000 jobs in April, down 392,000 jobs in May. C., down 352,000 jobs in June And down 277,000 jobs in July, respectively.
The rate of decline slowed down after hitting a high in April. Yet the employment rate may drop faster in September amid a resurgence of COVID-19.
The total number of unemployed people in August reached 864,000, an increase of 6,000 from the same month a year earlier.
The unemployment rate stood at 3.1 percent in August, a 0.1 percent increase from a year ago.
