Loch Lomond is a freshwater lake which has the border of Argyll and Bute running through it. This magnificent lake is located in West Dunbartonshire, Central Scotland. According to the amount of surface area Loch Lomond has, five miles wide and twenty four miles long, it is the largest lake on the British mainland. Along the eastern bank of this charming lake, runs the West Highland Way, a footpath running for ninety five miles from Milngavie to Forth Williams.

The lake is the ultimate location for water sports of many kinds; canoing, kayaking, wind surfing, even jetskis and speedboats can be found lapping up its tranquility southernmost point buoy photos. Chartered cruises are also available for visitors who wish to take on a guided tour of the area. Among the thirty four islands of Loch Lomond sits Inchmurrin, where a self-catering cottage and apartments are available to rent. The Scott Family has been in charge of the island for seventy years, which is also the site for their restaurant and bar.

Visitors who enjoy cycling can take the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path which spans sixteen point five miles from the Arrochar and Tarbet railway station to Balloch railway station. Golf enthusiasts might revel in an afternoon game at the local Golf Club on the south western shore.

For those wishing to spend some time indoors, there is Loch Lomond Shores on the southern point. This complex is filled with food and shopping delights.

While at the complex, the southernmost Munro called Ben Lomond is able to be viewed from many of the coffee shops and restaurants. The promenade on its Shores are also the site of a farmer's market occurring every second Sunday. This place is truly a paradise for outdoor adventures of all sorts.
