Who are Sundeep and Bedabrata?

Listen, in their own words…

One of us was a Managing Consultant at a renowned Intellectual Property Law firm who gave up his job to pursue his passion for Food, Travel, Art and Writing.

The other has been successfully running a design firm in Delhi for over two decades and wanted to explore design beyond his studio. Unified by common passions, we joined forces to run a hugely popular blog Delhi-Fun-Dos.com

Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

We are a blogger-duo discovering life through travel, food, theatre, art, craft, and culture. When we do not run with design or legal briefs, we travel in and around Delhi and India, and the world and share our fun experience on our platform DelhiFunDos.

Over time, we have become one of India’s top food, travel, and lifestyle website, Instagram, and other social media channels covering luxury to offbeat experiences. Analytics show that our viewership starts from pre-teens to people in their 70s. Happy to say, we have reached out to followers from small towns to tier-1 cities in the USA and Europe.

Describe how you first get into blogging?

We love traveling, exploring new cuisine, hidden food places, and fun events around us. Our friends and family started calling us for our advice and opinion on these things.

We realized we should start a blog that can answer all these questions and inspire others to explore their cities beyond cinema halls and malls. That is how our blog came into being.

How would you describe your blogging style?

In a single word – fun. We proudly say – “Fun” is our middle name. Hence, we cover fun activities and events on our blog in a manner that may be enjoyed by everybody.

What type of networking do you think is better to enhance your traffic to the blog?

We have never done any additional networking to enhance traffic on our blog. However, we are frequently invited to write guest posts on various blogs and websites. If the area of activity of the host website is in parity with our interest, we contribute and are linked back by these websites. That helps to increase our reach.

What do you think is the best service a blogger can provide to his readers?

Honesty. We try to be accurate and truthful while blogging. Firstly, Delhi-Fun-Dos is a labour of love and we do not want to adulterate our platforms through inflated reviews. Secondly, we have survived over a decade because of the credibility of our content.

Hence, we would never compromise on our goodwill and mislead our followers. Thus, an honest opinion would not only be of value to our readers but also go a long way in creating a loyal followership thus strengthening the platform.

How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?

Yes, we are part-time bloggers and have independent vocations. There is just no formula as to how we make time. We prioritize our activities at times. Delhi-Fun-Dos is a passion-driven activity. Hence, we take time out to pursue our passion, no matter how.

How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?

We do not deliberately follow a schedule for improvement. We try to give our best each day. Additionally, we keep cleaning the backend of our blog periodically and see ourselves doing that in the coming year.

What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?

Not focusing on SEO from the beginning. We realized a little later in our blogging journey, that just creating great content is not enough. It has to reach out to the maximum number of readers. We then started optimizing our blog for search engines and saw steep growth in readership.

Tell me about your proudest achievement?

There are so many achievements and it is tough to choose. From getting the “Best Post on Sabah” award at Travel Earth Digital Influencers Convention & Awards organized by Sabah Tourism, Malaysia to being selected as Team India for Goethe Institute for their Graphic Travelogues project and so much in between, there have been many moments when we felt a sense of achievement.

Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?

We were new and grew with the expansion of blogging and social media in general. In all humility, we have remained self-motivated in our journey and walked on an uncharted path covering various subjects under a single blog. So, we are unable to name any single person or platform that motivated us. Maybe it’s the ever-evolving food, travel, and art scene in India that keeps us motivated.

What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging?

We have many achievements in our lives. Perhaps being acknowledged as sensible and sensitive people who can give back to society is the biggest achievement for us. We were chosen to lead the Entrepreneurship Mindset program in Delhi government schools and are guest faculties at a university in Greater Noida to inspire the next generation to pursue their creative goals.

What do you do in your spare time?

Delhi-Fun-Dos – that is our spare time activity.

Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?

We live through the day and record that on our blog and other social media platforms. That is what we would want to keep doing in the future too.

What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

Since most of our content is around food and travel, Covid times were really challenging for us. The hospitality sector was one of the worst-hit industries. Everything came to a standstill. We spent that time cleaning up the backlog and revamping our website. Also, currently, handling the size of the blog and the ever-changing face of technology are ongoing challenges.

Can you name some of your favorite bloggers and explain why they are your favorites?

Julia Child for the love of cooking that is so evident in her blog and later in her book. Incidentally, the movie Julie & Julia based on Julia Child and her reader Julie is one of our favorite movies as it beautifully shows how blogging can inspire generations.

How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

As we mentioned – Delhi-Fun-Dos is a labour of love. It has given us such a rich repertoire of experiences. That is enough motivation to keep going for a lifetime!

Can you tell me about a few sources from where you get products for review on your site?

State tourism boards, luxury resorts, hotels, brands, or their PR agencies approach us with projects and we take it from there.

What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?

Nothing at all. We love and cherish all aspects of blogging.

What is the biggest difference in your life post-blogging?

Being recognized by random people. Some of our readers and YouTube subscribers spot us at extremely crowded fairs or events quite frequently now. This kind of visibility is all thanks to blogging and we are very thankful to the almighty for that.

Did you have any professional help or did you create the blog yourself?

One of us is a graphic designer. Our blog, its design, and the technical aspects are handled by him. So, everything at Delhi-Fun-Dos is done in-house.

How active are you on a weekly basis? How often do you communicate with your followers?

We try to communicate daily or at least every alternate day by replying to comments or DMs on social media platforms. We try to upload new posts on our blog twice a week.

How much time do you spend blogging?

There is no fixed time line and we use up whatever time we can spare after our personal and professional commitments. But roughly it is from 3 to 4 hours every day by both of us.

What do you think is the best social media strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?

Consistency – That is the only way to succeed.

Would you encourage other people to make their blog?

Of course! It is a great platform to educate, entertain or air views. Hence, the more people blog, the richer would be that space.

Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?

Blogging is not our profession. But is neither a hobby. It is our passion.

A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?

– Keep posting at consistent intervals.
– Keep posting as frequently as possible.
– Don’t expect big bucks from day one. Like any profession, a blog takes time to get established. Be patient.
– Don’t focus on money. Focus on giving value to your readers. Money will follow automatically.
