Tankless Water Heater type use less energy than those in the traditional type?

With the exception of the water in the heat exchanger coil, tankless water heaters, also known as instantaneous, continuous flow, inline, flash, on-demand, or instant-on water heaters, instantly heat water as it passes through the appliance. In these units, copper heat exchangers are preferred due to their high thermal conductivity and simplicity of fabrication.

Tankless heaters can be installed throughout a home at various points of use (POUs), far from or without a central water heater, or larger centralized whole house models can still be used to meet all of a home's hot water needs.

The main benefits of a Tankless Water Heater include an abundant, virtually endless continuous flow of hot water (as opposed to a limited flow of continuously heated hot water from conventional tank water heaters), potential energy savings under some circumstances because energy is only used when needed, and the elimination of standby energy losses because there is no hot water tank.
