NILP, The Northeast Independent Living Program Inc. believes in independent living. It is a consumer-controlled Independent Living Center that advocates for and provides resources to persons with all impairments who want to live freely in the community. They include various services such as personal care assistance, nursing home transition services, youth services, northeast recovery learning community, older adult peer support service, Merrimack valley community partner/long-term services and support, aging and disability resource consortium/options counseling, Independent Living Vocational Program, and community resources.
Thus, the main goal of NILP, Inc. is to help people with impairments access social benefits that will allow them to live independently in the community. Among the many things that set NILP apart from the competition is its personnel providing a high degree of peer mentorship and assistance. They are people with impairments who help other people with disabilities. On the other side, they support customers on their route to live freely in the community by providing information and referral, peer counseling, skills training, advocacy, and transition services.
