Another kind of mechanical resonant device is ceramic resonant tanks. These offer low-temperature coefficients and are utilised in microprocessor applications. Usually, they need more electricity than quartz resonant tanks. They do have good frequency stability, though. The choice of amplifier has no effect on them. They can be adjusted within 1% of their nominal frequency. Crystal Oscillator have excellent temperature stability. Beyond 85 degrees Celsius, however, their use is not guaranteed. This is brought on by the accumulation of foreign matter on the crystal as well as modifications made to the electronic parts of the oscillator circuit. To prevent this issue, oscillator circuits must be properly built. The crystal's output frequency must be within a few pF of its effective load capacitance, which is 18pF in this case.
