PEEK melts at a higher temperature than the majority of conventional thermoplastics (343 °C / 649.4 °F). Extrusion or injection moulding techniques can be used to process the material within the range of its melting temperature. Technically speaking, it is possible to employ fused deposition modelling (FDM) (also known as fused filament fabrication, or FFF) technology to convert granular Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) Market into filament and 3D print objects from the filament material. PEEK filaments have been shown to be capable of creating class IIa medical devices. The FFF approach can now be used for a variety of medical applications, including dentures.
