Wondering how to style your short, curly hair? Well, you're in luck! In this article, I'll share easy-to-install hairstyles for short 4C hair. When my hair was short, I loved twist-outs.

For some reason, I find twist-outs on shorter hair much prettier and stylish compared to long 4C hair. Despite being harder to style than other styles for short 4C hair, so many hairstyles look good on this length.

Trendy Hairstyles for Short 4C Hair

High Puff

When you have short hair, it's a great time to experiment with hairstyles that give you more hair. The high puff style is one of my favorites because it adds height and volume. To get this style:

  • Wash your hair or spray it with water, and then use a headband to create a high puff.
  • If you have 4C hair and are wearing a headband, start at the top of your head and slowly slide it up over your forehead until it covers most of your forehead area.
  • Slide it down to where it started creating curls in the back.

Two Strand Twist Out

Twist-outs are a popular and simple 4C hairstyle that also doubles up as a protective style. You can use several techniques to achieve this look, and your best bet is to start with clean, detangled hair. Once you've moisturized and detangled it well, divide your hair into sections depending on how large or small the twists will be.

For example: If you want large curls, tight ringlets, or chaotic waves, divide your hair into sections; if you want tighter ringlets, smaller curls, or even shorter pieces of hair, work in sections.

Bantu Knots

Bantu knots are a classic style for short 4c natural hair type and have been seen on celebrities like Cardi B on the red carpet. Not only is this a protective style, but it gives you an edgy look.

This hairstyle works well for short 4c hair as it is extremely versatile, and you can use gel to style it. It works well with any length of 4C hair, whether you prefer bigger knots or smaller ones. Some people prefer having their knots small, while others prefer larger knots, but both styles work out great if you have short 4c hair!

Head Wrap

If your hair is refusing to cooperate or you are having trouble styling it, a head wrap can help you. The thicker the fabric of your head wrap, the more versatile hairstyles you can try as it covers a larger area of your hair.

You can switch up the look on your head wrap based on what you are wearing, how you feel, and what occasion is calling for that day. Lastly, head wraps can also be used to protect your hair from any damage because most of it will be covered up by the head wrap.

Transitioning from relaxed hair and growing your hair back up has its challenges, especially when it gets short; switching up between styles becomes harder because there are so few options available. These long 4c natural hair styles will help you switch up your look from time to time.
