Your nose is an essential part of your body. It is required for the proper functioning of the respiratory canal, for senses like smelling and breathing in general. Just like any other part of the body, it requires adequate care and can have potential health/structural issues, and it is much more delicate than other external organs like fingers or limbs.

This blog will help you understand about the various types of nose surgeries in detail!

One can have issues like congenital nasal dislocation, deformation, a generally big nose, or their own aesthetic/visual pleasures. Medical science has progressed far enough to help cure structural issues of the nose and the nasal tract. Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a nasal reconstruction (plastic surgery). It is a procedure for altering, modifying and reconstructing the nose. However, it is not the only surgery performed for nose reconstruction.

Different Types of Nose Surgery

Closed Rhinoplasty

It is the most common type of Rhinoplasty procedure. The incisions in this surgery are performed internally, leaving minimal external scars, as the soft tissues inside are raised, allowing an opening to the bone and cartilage. This surgery has benefits like reduced tissue irritations, faster recovery, and smaller operating durations.

Open Rhinoplasty

This surgery is designed in consideration for patients that admire nose reductions or require it for health reasons. The columella (skin between nostrils under the nose) is incised. The skin is raised to create an opening for restructuring the nose. A splint is used to keep the nose structure in place; the use of this splint generally lasts for one week or more. Open Rhinoplasty is highly recommended for patients with issues like genetic and structural deformities, the trauma of the nose and other nasal issues.

Septo-Rhinoplasty is generally performed for patients who face a breathing problem through their nose. A deviated or misaligned septum is mostly the cause of it.  The septum is the part responsible for dividing the cartilage from the bones inside the nose. The mucosa is incised in this type of surgery. The mucosa is raised to remove parts that are disformed, then putting them in a proper position to allow clear breathing. Along with improved breathing, the nasal structure is also improved by this surgery.

Rhino-tip Surgery

The structure of the underlying cartilage is modified to change the shape of the nose, mostly by altering the inside of the nose to minimize any sort of scarring in the procedure/treatment. The patient can achieve a proper tip of the nose with this surgery, as the name suggests!

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

A non-surgical, non-invasive procedure, non-surgical rhinoplasty surgery, helps in making minor corrections to the nose. It can fade over time as the filler dissolves, and one may need more treatment in future.

Due to the availability of different types of nose surgery in the world today, many people are satisfied. However, several risks are also associated with nose surgeries which can be easily reduced if performed by a skilled surgeon.
