Update for Skilled Migrants in South Australia: South Australia Opens State Nomination Program 2023-24

The South Australia migration program is now open. The South Australian government opens the state nomination program for eligible applicants in South Australia.

Some changes are in place for the program and the Government also updates the list of high-demand industries.

Find the details below.

Updated Process for South Australia State Nomination

Unlike the previous financial year, the South Australia state nomination program now uses the Registration of Interest (ROI) application. This is to manage the huge volume of applications against the limited number of nominations available. South Australia will also prioritize the retention of overseas graduates and temporary visa holders in the state.

Potential applicants cannot apply directly for state nomination; instead, they must submit an ROI and be invited to apply for state nomination by South Australia.

There is also an update regarding the TSMIT that you should not miss.

High Demand Industries for South Australia Nomination

Invitations to apply for South Australian nomination will be sent to experienced individuals with talents in high-demand industries, which includes:

  • Trades and Construction
  • Defence
  • Health
  • Education
  • Natural and Physical Science
  • Welfare Professionals

South Australia is also searching for people who have:

  • Working experience in the defense industry and/or
  • Highly specialized abilities in the digital and critical technologies sectors.

The SA Government has said that, like in past years, international graduates and other temporary visa holders will be evaluated for a wide range of occupations (not only those listed above).

What About The Offshore Candidates?

Don’t worry, because the opportunity is also open for you. Applicants from outside Australia who wish to relocate to South Australia must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and pick South Australia as their first preferred State or Territory. When you submit this form, the South Australian Government will review it and consider inviting you to apply for a Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) or Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa.

The South Australian government has said that candidates will be evaluated on merit using the following criteria:

  • Their specified occupation;
  • the number of years and type of skilled employment experience they have
  • English language proficiency
  • EOI point total

What does it mean to you?

Many people have been waiting for the opening of State Nomination in South Australia. If you’re a highly skilled candidate and work in one of the high-demand industries, then this is a great opportunity for you!
