An easy reference for your digital spendings.

With Google’s latest budget feature on Android, the users now can avoid overspending on digital content. They can use the feature to set a monthly limit on digital content. The feature is available in the Play Store and applies to movies, apps, games, music, television shows, eBooks, etc. When the users start crossing their set limits, the budget feature will give an alert, making them aware of their over expenditure. Here is how you can set a budget for your expenses:-

Setting a Budget

The users can set a budget in the currency of their existing country profile on Google Play.

  • To set the budget, you will need to click on the Play Store app of Google on your tablet or phone.
  • On the left side, click on Menu and then click on Account.
  • You will find the option Purchase History.
  • Choose Set budget
  • Enter the amount you wish to spend monthly and then click on Save.

After enabling the feature, every time you buy an item, the feature will send a notification allowing you to know if you are overspending or are close to it. Also, you can enable the feature to change and remove your budget. Here is how you can do it:

Changing the Budget

  • Open the Play Store on your tablet or Android phone.
  • Go to the left side and click on Menu.
  • Click on Account and then click on Purchase History.
  • Choose the option Edit budget.
  • After entering the changed budget, click on Save.

Here are the steps that can allow you to remove your budget

  • As you have done above, open the Play Store on your tablet or phone.
  • Go to the left side and click on Menu.
  • Now, click on Account and then click on Purchase History.
  • At last, click on the Remove budget option.

Enable the Feature to See the Amount You Have Spent

  • Open the Play Store on your tablet or phone.
  • Go to the left and click on Menu.
  • Click on Account and then click on Purchase History.

According to Google, the latest feature has nothing to do with preventing you from making purchases on your Account on Google Play once you have exceeded it. The feature will only help track your overall spending. Google is not going to implement any rigid restrictions, such as parental controls through Google Family Link. It is relatively easy for you to forget the expenses you have made in the Play Store while buying apps here and there, renting one or two movies, buying games, and making in-app purchases.

The newly introduced feature will help you keep a check on the expenditure you make on digital content. The feature will work best for the people who often keep on purchasing several apps for entertainment and office work.
