Highly skilled workers will always remain in demand in New Zealand. Migrants with the right skills and qualifications will have higher chances of being absorbed by the country's skilled workforce. To enable easy sustainability of the country's economy, the Government has listed some exclusive options related to skill shortages, including a long-term skill shortage list, a regional skill shortage list, and a Construction and infrastructure skill shortage list.

More than eighty hard-to-find-skill roles have been considered in the Green List of New Zealand. Still, certain professions will always remain in high demand, including regional registered nurse, teacher, healthcare assistant, business analyst, engineer, and accountant.
