The two main categories of concrete blocks are hollow and solid.  Typically, both hollow and solid concrete block types are used for the construction of walls and other purposes as well.

Solid concrete blocks although not entirely solid, when compared to the hollow ones are strong.  Due to this, they are most often used in the construction of strong manufacturing structures required to maintain longer structure stability.  Solid concrete blocks are bigger than bricks in size.  SD Conmix manufactures the best concrete blocks that you can trust for stronger buildings.

Hollow Concrete Blocks

Hollow concrete blocks are available in three grades; namely, Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C.

Grade A with a minimum density of 1,500 kg/m3.

Grade B with a minimum density of less than 1,500 kg/m3.

Grade C with a minimum density greater than 1,000 kg/m3.

For load-bearing concrete block walls, Grades A and B are used.  Grade C is used for non-load-bearing walls.

Solid Concrete Blocks

The fully solid concrete blocks are similar to gray bricks but they are generally larger in size.  These concrete blocks are strong enough for building walls as they protect against natural disasters, such as heavy rainfall, strong winds; etc.

They can also be used for building construction projects such as strong foundations, garden walls, and planters, retaining walls, staircases, and fire pits.  Although larger and heavier than hollow blocks, solid concrete blocks are less expensive.

Hollow concrete blocks vs. solid concrete blocks

The two main types of concrete blocks; hollow and solid, are widely used in the field of construction.  Fully solid paving blocks are often used in pavement projects where durability, stability, and one’s safety are of utmost importance.  We would want our pavements to be well-constructed without any holes.

Hollow blocks have holes that occupy almost more than half of their cross-sectional area.  They are used in the construction of boundary fences and other large structures.  The holes in the hollow blocks make them lighter.  They can be used for wiring, running, or piping through, and also run rebar through the holes to obtain greater stability.

SD Conmix concrete blocks unit is widely spread over a large area with a well-equipped laboratory that is completely dedicated to manufacturing strong and durable pavement blocks and other construction materials.  SD Conmix concrete blocks unit is also backed by advanced technology

There is always confusion between concrete blocks and cement blocks.  Cement blocks are made of clay powder, limestone, and many other substances mixed with water. Concrete on the other hand includes cement as one of the components in its manufacturing process, along with sand, stone, and gravel.

During construction, we would always prefer the best construction material such as the types of cement, ready mix concrete, admixtures, sealants, etc., and at no point in time would we want to compromise on the quality.

At SD Conmix, ready mix concrete is manufactured with the highest priority given to high-strength, high-durability, to always ensure the best for any and all kinds of projects that we are associated with.  SD Conmix’s construction materials and cement products are suitable for various types of construction such as pavements, roads, highways, car parks, airport runways, warehouses, flyovers, etc.
