New York – April, 2022 – Let’s cut to the chase, without further ado.

What is diversity, equity, and inclusion?

DEI refers to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Diversity generally refers to the physical, psychological and social differences among individuals in a workplace. Equity ensures everyone has access to the same opportunities and aims to eliminate barriers to full participation of certain groups. Inclusion refers to how diverse people feel as part of a larger group.

Why do diversity, equity, and inclusion matter in organizations?

Organizations that don’t practice DEI would miss out on developing and utilizing their peoples’ full potential. People in diverse teams bring different perspectives to the table, are more innovative and make better decisions. This is why diverse companies are likely to have better growth and returns.

A study by McKinsey & Company shows that companies with gender and ethnic diversity are more likely to do better than less diverse peers. In the same study, it was discovered that companies with higher racial and gender diversity also rank higher in sales revenue, customers and profits.

DEI programs integral to having engaged and happy employees. The diverse and more inclusive an organization, the more likely it is to have employees with increased job satisfaction and greater trust.

Companies with higher diversity in management earn more revenue than other companies. This could be due to diversity of gender, country of origin, career path, and industry background. Companies with higher diversity in executive leadership are more likely to be profitable and better at creating value.

The bottom line is introducing and reinforcing DEI programs helps build a robust DEI culture where employees can show up each day happy about who they are. This leads to higher engagement, increased productivity, and greater innovation, all leading to more revenue and profitability for organizations.
