The idea of writing a few verses about Bali Catspace MY just popped up recently. More specifically, it happened this winter when I spent some time in the base marina maintaining the fleet and preparing the yachts for winter storage. Having met these yachts quite a bit over the past season and seeing how many new BALI's have been bought for the next sailing season, I decided to take a closer look.

I must emphasize that the BALI brand belongs to the renowned French boat builder Catana. For me, Catana catamarans have always been synonymous with huge, fast and unconventional catamarans. Not seen that often on the Adriatic, especially not offered for charter. Over time, Catana was offered for charter in the Croatian Adriatic, but the appearance of BALI catamarans was much more obvious due to their presence on the market.

Her striking design incorporates the innovations of BALI's design and engineering team led by Olivier Poncin. When designing the Bali concept, they took into account some typical features such as light weight, the design of the nacelle, the height of the freeboard and the removal of the trampoline. The rig is removed further aft, allowing for a larger headsail. The hulls are manufactured using polyester and closed cell PVC foam sandwich infusion technology, resulting in significant weight savings.

The range of BALI catamarans includes BALI 4.4, 4.1, 4.3 and 4.5 models, while BALI 5.4 refers to the flagship. All models are available in several versions with regard to the number of cabins/berths and additional equipment. The 4.3 model is manufactured both as a sailing yacht and as a motor yacht. All models share features such as a forward cockpit and sunbathing area in place of the trampoline, huge retractable windows and doors, extending the spacious saloon to the aft berth. Then there are spacious areas free of bulkheads, large refrigerators and a high degree of comfort, security and self-sufficiency thanks to solar panels.

At the end of the day, guest comfort and enjoyment should be the priority, which BALI has certainly achieved, while guests shouldn't worry about maintenance either. The creators of the BALI concept have kept the price relatively low, making it more affordable for a wide range of customers. Judging by the response from charter customers, orders for new boats from charter agencies shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.
