Food businesspersons who are into some small-scale food businesses have to get the FSSAI registration. The companies that need to have an FSSAI registration are:

  • A person selling or manufacturing food items all by himself and home chefs comes into this category.

  • Person except for caterers who distributes food items in any religious or social gathering

  • Petty retailers deals in small scale food items

  • Any temporary stallholder who is involves in selling any food item.

  • Small-scale food business with a production capacity of up to 100kgs daily,

  • Any food business operator who has a slaughtering capacity of 2 large animals or ten small animals, or 50 poultry birds every day

FSSAI registration procedure through official website

  1. The authorized person need to register themselves with the registering authority by submitting the application form and fee of Rs 100 for one year,

  2. Food services business, after registering, are needed to fill in the application form ‘Form A’ with the fee of Rs. 100

  3. After submitting the form applicant shall receive a 14-digital application reference number.

  4. Within seven days of application submission, sanctioned authority issues the registration certificate, or they may reject the application. 

  5. The applicant who received the approval certificate mat enjoys its advantages.

  6. If necessary, registering authority may issue an inspection notice within seven days.

  7. The inspection would be completed in 30 days, and after that, the business could be started.

 

Types of a license under FSSAI

FSSAI registration licensing is categorized into three basic categories mentioned below:

  1. FSSAI registration: any business whose annual turnover is INR 12 Lakh for food businesses

  2. FSSAI state license: yearly turnover which is more than INR 12 lakh but below INR 20crore comes under this category

  3. FSSAI central license: where annual turnover is higher than INR 20 CRORE

 

FSSAI license fee structure

  • Fees for a 4-star category hotel is Rs 5000

  • Nay manufacturer and miller producing 501 to 2500MT of milk solids annually, has up to 10001 to 50000 LPD of milk and has a production of above 1MT daily have to pay an amount of Rs 5000 as an FSSAI licensing fee.

  • The FSSAI license fee is Rs 200 for food vendors or other food businesses, including clubs, restaurants, etc., serving food. Food servicing business including canteens of college, institute, hospitals, offices, etc.,

 

Central or FSSAI import licensing fee

Any FSSAI central license has to be obtained by entrepreneurs, central government agencies, manufacturers, ports, import exporters, etc., fees detail of the FSSAI central licensing would be

  • For any new FSSAI central license is Rs 7000 that needs to fix annually

  • Renewal cost goes the same INR 7000 per year

  • For any improvement in FSSAI license, one needs to pay the same fee of Rs 7000
