As Massage Therapists, we encounter many individuals whose comments may not be as well received as you might believe. It's not because we're overly sensitive; rather, it's because people often say things that aren't acceptable and are more improper than you might expect.

Here are some remedial massage near me etiquette tips and things you should avoid saying or doing during your next treatment with us:

  • Request that your massage therapist accompany you to a movie / visit your home / etc. We endeavor to maintain a professional rapport with our clientele. That means we would want to see you alone in our professional environment. We will decline the invitation and recommend that you visit a different massage therapist, particularly if your request is excessively suggestive.
  • Excessive noises. Noises happen. Moaning when anything pleasant occurs. Please don't stare at us while you do it (yes, this has happened), and be mindful that if you are loud enough, other rooms may hear you. Please keep in mind that if it's the only thing you do the entire time, we may suspect that you're attempting to acquire more than you're paying for.
  • Comment on our appearance or appeal. Due to years of misrepresentation in our sector, we tend to be more receptive to certain praises. While we are professional in every massage, we cannot help but question if you are attempting to change the professional connection when you comment on our appearance.
  • Extend your head from the room to indicate that you are prepared. We appreciate how soon you get ready for your massage. The difficulty is that we must also be prepared for the massage. This may involve obtaining water, using the restroom, or simply ensuring that you do not feel rushed to sit down. Additionally, your yelling down the hallway is not soothing for our other clients who are receiving massages, so please be patient and wait for your massage therapist to return to the room to begin your session.
  • Begin disrobing while we are still present in the room. Again, in order to maintain a professional connection, we must leave the room before you undress. To ensure that each client is always satisfied, we only reveal our work as it is completed. The act of disrobing prior to leaving the room exposes areas we are not currently working on and is distracting when we are attempting to listen to what you require for the session.
  • Contact us. We contact you. We do not wish to be touched. That's when things turn strange. And discomforting. Again, we may suspect that you are attempting to alter our professional relationship.
  • If you're late, don't expect us to extend your time. This includes coming up on time then taking a 15-minute phone call or chatting with us about everything under the sun, delaying our start time. We want you to begin as close to on time as possible. If we start late due to the Massage Therapist's tardiness, you are entitled to your entire time, but not if you arrive late.
