Your dog may refuse to drink water from time to time. As a dog owner, you have to be strategic in giving water to your dog so this will not become a traumatizing experience for him.
Here are some techniques that you can try on your dog to encourage him to drink more water:
●A pat on the back does the trick. Every time he drinks water, acknowledge his effort and give him a nice hug. This will encourage him to drink water again as he knows that this makes you proud of him.
●Give him a cool treat. Who does not want a nice surprise? Dogs get highly motivated when they are given a treat for a job well done. You can simply give him his favorite snack and he will surely remember to drink more water next time.
●Give him a variety of water types. Try giving your dog a variety of water such as purified water, tap water, distilled, or flavored water. Observe your dog and find out which of these types he prefers the most so this is what you can give him moving forward.
