If your air conditioner doesn't seem to be dripping water, it could be a problem. The problem could be one of the filters. If the filter is dirty, it can cause water to drip from the AC unit. This can create a mess and make it difficult to keep your home cool and comfortable.

Why is my AC not dripping water?

There are a few possible reasons your air conditioner may not be dripping water.

1. Out of refrigerant: If the A/C shuts off, the heat in the refrigerator will cause water around it to freeze. If the condenser fan will be switched off, the lines will freeze even if they are low on refrigerant. Then, there will no longer be any cooling. The only time water might freeze to your evaporator coil is when the A/C is on but the air humidity is low.

2. Low humidity: If your air conditioner doesn't seem to be dripping water when it's humid outside, you may have a low humidity problem. Low humidity can cause your air conditioner to work harder to cool your home, and could even lead to moisture build-up in the system. If you notice that your air conditioner is not draining water as efficiently as it once did, take a closer look at the filter and hose connections.

3. Dirty filter: The dirty air filter can set off your evaporator coil, which will prevent the compressor from working. Therefore, your air conditioning unit will not be able to function, and condensation will accumulate.

Why air conditioner leaking water inside despite repairing and unclogging the drainage?

  1. Damaged drain line that hasn't been cleaned.
  2. A double-trapped drain line allows an air bubble to form between the two traps, and not allowing water to go through this bubble is a problem with gravity-fed drains.
  3. A dirty coil, allowing water to wick off coil before it gets to drain pan is a problem with many coils in drains.
  4. Restricted air flow cause leaking around fins of the coil. An additional result of the inadequate air is the formation of mildew between fins of the coil. This prevents water flow and even further hinders air flow.
  5. Air handler lumber stripped away from level, water draining away from drain. Drainage pan cracking. Water draining by way of crack.
  6. The drain pan is full of gunpowder. Moss, dust, and rust can cause them to clog badly. If a trained professional needs to completely change the pipe, have them also clean the evaporator.
