The Personal History Of David Copperfield has already hit the theatres and if you are planning to watch the film, you might want to know a brief about the film. As the name suggests, the movie is based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens that was written during the Victorian Era in 1850.

The plot follows the life of David Copperfield from his childhood through his maturity. David has a loving childhood until his mother remarries post the death of his father. David’s stepfather wants him out of the home and thus sends him away to Yarmouth at his caretaker’s farm. He grows up there, among them, and is loved greatly. The story explores the life of this young boy and his conflicts at home with his stepfather who dominates his mother too.

The story has been adapted to many plays and a couple of films before. One of the adapted versions released in 1999 starring Daniel Radcliffe as the leading character who later rose to stardom as Harry Potter. This film was a decent hit and remained to be a fair adaptation of the book. The new adaptation, The Personal History of David Copperfield gives a fresher and a charming spin to the classic, justifying the fact that some stories are truly timeless.

David Copperfield is a classic novel and the thing about classic novels is that the characters gain their own personality and have a recognition out of the book as well. You would have heard of the term ‘literary character’ and David Copperfield is one famous literary character that is so loved for its innocence.

The film is an exciting watch especially because of the portrayal of the Victorian era in the 21st century and how the characters adapt to the language of that era. The film stars Dev Patel as the lead along with Aneurin Barnard as James Steerforth, Peter Capaldi as Mr. Micawber, and Morfydd Clark as Dora Spenlow / Clara Copperfield. It is written, directed, and produced by Armando Iannucci who is known for his writing in the comedy genre for which he also won two Primetime Emmy Awards. The film already holds an approval rating of 93% and it has received high accolades for the direction and acting.  Without diverging from the plot, the film still manages to add a different perspective which makes it even more exciting.
