In the family car segment, the Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Avanza are competitors. Both of these cars are considered cars. The Suzuki Ertiga is sold for Rp. 207 million to Rp. 262 million.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Avanza is sold at a price range of IDR 200 million to IDR 250 million. In terms of price, indeed the Toyota Avanza won cheaper in terms of price. But from fuel consumption, it turns out that the Suzuki Ertiga is much better, you know!
Based on testing, these two cars actually have fuel consumption which is both okay. It's just that, in our opinion, the Suzuki Ertiga deserves to be the winner between the two. How did it happen?
Fuel consumption for Suzuki Ertiga
At the end of 2019, we tasted the Suzuki Ertiga and tested its fuel consumption directly. The test route starts from Tambun to Cirebon, West Java. During the test, the speed that we passed did not exceed 100 km per hour.
The total distance traveled is about 190 km. the method we use is full to full. Upon arrival in Cirebon, we also refueled the fuel until it was full. As a result, our Suzuki Ertiga only needed 5.5 liters to be full again.
This means that during this 190 km the Suzuki Ertiga that we use can cover a distance of up to 33.4 km per liter. This figure really amazed us. Oh yeah, the transmission we use is manual.
Even though it uses a manual transmission, it turns out that the automatic transmission also has economical fuel consumption. With the same test, the same mileage, the Suzuki Ertiga automatic transmission can record 29.6 km per liter.

In total, the 190 km distance to the automatic Ertiga only takes 6.2 liters of fuel from the full. This means, the Suzuki Ertiga has very economical fuel consumption. Hayoo, how about your car? As an illustration, the fuel we use is RON 92 yes.
Fuel consumption of the Toyota Avanza
Then, how about the fuel consumption of the Toyota Avanza, the king of the streets? As it turns out, we have to admit that the Suzuki Ertiga's great fuel consumption is much better.
We also tried to test the fuel consumption of the Toyota Avanza. To make it more balanced, we traveled about 200 km to find out the Avanza fuel consumption.
The journey starts from Jakarta to Cirebon. The method we use also uses full to full to make it more accurate. During the trip we also limit the speed to 100 km per hour. As a result, it turned out that the Toyota Avanza had more wasteful fuel consumption.
Based on testing, to fill it up again, 9.5 liters of fuel are needed. This means, the fuel consumption per liter recorded by the Toyota Avanza reaches 21 km per liter. This figure is clearly far below the achievement obtained by the Suzuki Ertiga.
That's for the Toyota Avanza automatic transmission. Then, what about the manual? The fuel consumption figures are not much different. To manually record fuel consumption at 23.5 km per liter.
* maximum speed of 100 km per hour with a rpm not exceeding 2,000 rpm
When compared to the Suzuki Ertiga, it is clear that this million-person car is losing in terms of fuel consumption. Keep in mind, these results represent the test data we use for each test.
Conclusion
On paper, the Suzuki Ertiga engine power is slightly larger than the Toyota Avanza. The Suzuki Ertiga has an engine capacity of 1,462 cc, 4 cylinder, DOHC, VVT. The power generated reaches 104 hp @ 6,000 rpm and a torque of 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Avanza has an engine capacity of 1,496 cc, 4 cylinder, DOHC, VVT-i. Strength reaches 102 hp @ 6,000 rpm and torque of 136 Nm @ 4,200 rpm. On paper, the Suzuki Ertiga has a little more power.

However, they answered that big energy is not always wasteful. Even the fuel consumption in our opinion is the best in the 7-passenger LMPV class. Hopefully this number can be our comparison data for those of you who want to buy a family car.
Remember, fuel consumption is also a factor that is quite calculated for cars in this segment. Because it is often used for daily and long trips. Next time, we'll talk about Suzuki Ertiga Sport.
