Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

This majestic shrine is one of the most popular places in Delhi. It is open 24 hours a day and serves 180 people every 15 mins. This place is dedicated to Guru Har Krishan, the eighth Sikh Guru. It was built by the prominent Sikh General Sardar Bhagel Singh (1783) and featured a large water body and intricate carvings in its domes. This architectural wonder stands tall in central Delhi, close to Delhi's Hanuman temple and most famous church.

Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib is one of the most famous Gurudwaras in Uttarakhand, is also one of the most picturesque gurudwaras in India. It is located at more than 4000m above sea level and was designed to look like a star considering both the weather and the altitude. The shrine is closed between October and April due to snowfall and cold weather.

Gurudwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur

This gurudwara is famous for its beautiful view of Qutub Minar. Rabindranath Tagore documented the gallantry of the martyr in his unending verses. His 4-year-old son, who was a guru, was killed along with 40 of his followers. Although he was tortured to death like Jesus, it did not deter his faith. Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib, Punjab

Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib, Amritsar, is often overlooked due to Guru Harminder Sahib's popularity, aka Golden Temple. However, this sacred shrine is one of the most revered and famous Gurudwaras of India. Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib was created to remember Guru Hargobind Singh's early death. 

Baba Atal, who died in his 9th year of tender age, renounced all ties with the world and is now the Gurudwara. The nine-story tower is unique in its type because of the way it differs from other Sikh worship sites in India. It was constructed between 1778 and 1784 and has been visited by devotees ever since.

Takhat Sachkhand Shri Abchalnagar Gurudwara Maharashtra

Nanded is home to Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurudwara, which is considered one of five takhts within Sikhism. This is also where Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru, died. This Gurudwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1832. 

It is highly revered within the Sikh community. Sachkhand, the Realm of Truth, is the name of the complex within. Angitha Sahib is the name of the Gurudwara in which Guru Gobind Singh died.

Gurudwara Mandi, Himachal

Gurudwara Guru Gobind Singh Ji can be found in Mandi (Himachal Pradesh). This Gurudwara is a symbol of the promise made by Guru Ji to the Raja Of Mandi. According to legend, Guru Gobind Singh was invited to the Raja of Mandi. 

When it came time to leave, the King asked Guru ji if he would protect Mandi. Guru ji pointed his gun at a pitcher in the river and fired. The pitcher continued to flounder instead of sinking. Guru Gobind saw this and assured Raja of Mandi that Mandi would be safe. This is where Guru ji's belongings were found today.

Manikaran Gurudwara

Gurudwara Shri Narayan Hari, also known as Manikaran Sahib, is located in Manikaran (45kms from Kullu). Baba Narayan Hari spent 50 years working tirelessly to create the Gurudwara. Some accounts say that Baba Narayan arrived in Manikaran to build a Gurudwara. He built a small wooden structure. This Gurudwara was demolished several times by locals. Sant Narayan Hari did not lose heart and built a larger Gurudwara within 50 years. Manikaran Sahib, a most famous Gurudwaras and place of worship in India, is still in use today.

Gurudwara Majnu ka Tila, Delhi

This Gurudwara is located in North Delhi, near ISBT Kashmiri Gate. It is considered to be the oldest Sikh shrine. This shrine was named after Majnu, a boatman who used free Yamuna River crossings to transport people. Gurudwara was built by Baghel Singh, a Sikh leader, to commemorate Guru Nanak's stay in 1783. Guru Har Gobind Singh, the sixth Sikh Guru, also stayed here. This is why the place is so important to Sikh devotees.

Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Punjab

Damdama literally translates to a living place. It was a refuge for Guru Gobind Singh, who, after a long battle, sought it out. Talwandi Sabo can be found approximately 28kms from Bhatinda in Punjab. Damdama Sahib, another Takht of Sikhism, is also historically important as it is where Guru Gobind Singh wrote the Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It is also where Guru Ji tested the faith of Singhs. This is one of the most famous Gurudwaras in India.
