All you need to know about Butterfly Valve Components and Applications

There are several types of industrial valves, such as butterfly valves, gate valves, ball valves, check valves, and diaphragm valves. These valves operate according to different principles.

Among the valves mentioned, Butterfly Valves have become increasingly popular in recent years and are used extensively in the Chemical, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Food Processing, Automobile industries, etc.

Butterfly valves are used to stop, regulate and start flow with a quarter-turn rotational motion. They are quickly and easily operated with a 90° turn of the handle that shuts or opens the valve completely.

Aira Euro Automation, a unit of the company, is the largest butterfly valve manufacturer in India and supplies the best butterfly valves worldwide. In the chemical industry, Aira Euro Automation manufactures a versatile range of PFA lined and PTFE lined valves that perform well when handling acids.

The stem sealing conforms to the German Clean Air Act (TA-Luft). Maintenance-free, self-adjusting top and bottom stem sealing are reliable even with high switching cycles and fluctuating temperatures.

Butterfly valve applications in various industries:

Aira Euro Automation manufactures high quality high performance Butterfly Valves that are used in a wide range of diverse and demanding applications such as air, gas, fire protection, high pressure, high temperature, etc. Valves are constructed for functionality and reliability in a variety of industries including base chemicals, agrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and fluorochemicals.

The basic components of a Butterfly Valve are as follows:

Butterfly Valves consist of four main components: the Body, the Disk, the Stem, and the Seat.

Body: It is the butterfly valve's body that fits between the two pipes. There are two major body styles:

Bodies connected to the pipes by bolt holes run through the body of the valve. The design is simple and is used to prevent backflow in universal flow systems. In addition, it is more economical than the other type. The Lug Style Body is connected to the pipe via protruding holes on the outside of the body. It is relatively more expensive than its counterpart.

Disk: There is a disk inside both Wafer and Lug style valves that control the flow of media through them.

Stem: Despite its small size, the Stem of the butterfly valve plays a significant role in its operation. The disk is connected to the handle outside, without which the valve would not be able to open and close.

Seat: Butterfly valve seats are made of a variety of elastomers or polymers and are either bonded to the body of the valve or pressed or locked into place. They run along the inner diameter of the valve.

As a result, Butterfly Valve technology has evolved dramatically over the years and so has its popularity in various industries. Due to the Butterfly Valves' quarter-turn operation, tight shut-off, and availability of a variety of materials, their popularity has grown significantly. Our company is one of the leading manufacturers of premium quality industrial valves and control equipment used in demanding and challenging applications.

Aira Euro Automation is one of the best manufacturers of a double flanged butterfly valve in India. Aira has a wide range of butterfly valve which is operated by a pneumatic actuator, gear & lever.
