Did you know that the kitchen is one of the most dangerous places in the house for a pet bird? This can be a bit of a surprise to many first-time bird owners.
Cooking fumes are one of the biggest concerns. Many types of cookware emit fumes that are harmless for us, but deadly to our feathered pals. That list includes things like Teflon cookware, popcorn, and even turkey bags. There’s also a chance that your pet could get caught in a pot of hot food and/or liquid, get trapped in a sink of soapy water, or cut herself on a sharp knife. Dangerous foods are also a concern. Be sure to keep your feathered buddy’s cage away from the kitchen!
The kitchen isn’t the only household hazard to be concerned with. Ask your veterinarians Dallas, GA for more bird care tips.
