It also protects the tissues of the eyes from sun rays and protects from their death and cell loss; they also protect the eyes from harmful blue lights. In the retina, it helps to convert the light signals to electrical signals and protects the transaction of those signals into the brain. Zeaxanthin is made up of two carotenoids in the eyes that contain Lutein and meso-Zeaxanthin. The Lutein and Zeaxanthin work together within the eye exactly in the centre and within the peripheral regions of the retina, which forms the macular pigment in the eye. They both work to reduce the risk of eye diseases. The cause of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy is due to the high blood sugar levels causing damage to vision. For this purpose, Zeaxanthin plays a vital role in protecting our eyes.
