We’re still in the heat of summer, but it won’t be long until fall arrives. Going into the fall, it’s not uncommon for people to slow down on physical activity. But what if you could maintain your fitness momentum as seasons start to change?
There are all kinds of low-impact activities that can help you maintain that momentum. One option is oarboarding, or turning your paddle board into a sculling rowing boat with a SUP rower attachment and oars for rowing.
Here’s how oarboarding, along with other activities, can keep your activity level up.
Oarboarding
In the summer, you may spend hours on the water with your stand up paddle board. Oarboarding lets you get even more out of your paddle board. You can find SUP rower units that attach to the deck of your board to turn it into a sculling rowing boat, complete with row boat oars.
Rowing, including oarboarding, is a low-impact and full-body exercise. It’s also a great way to take your fitness momentum into the fall. As temperatures start to drop, you can head out to the water practically any time of day to enjoy some oarboarding.
Cycling
Cycling is a popular low-impact summer activity. However, the heat of summer can limit when you get out on your bike. Going into the fall, cycling can once again become an everyday thing, especially when midday temperatures become more pleasant.
Going into the fall is also a great time to dial up the time spent on your bike. One option is bike commuting. This can include biking to work and running errands (when it makes sense, of course). Bike commuting is a great way to sneak in some extra activity without going to the gym.
Hiking
Do you have any hiking trails nearby? Starting in early fall, it’s prime time to take advantage of those trails. You may already be an avid hiker, but cooler temperatures make spending more time on the trails much more inviting.
Turn up the miles, go on trails you haven’t explored, and spend more time out in nature. If you want to keep things even more interesting, include oarboarding and cycling, along with hiking, as part of a comprehensive weekly routine.
