The environmental issues seem so overwhelming that most people are counting on the government or large industries to save the world. But there is a lot more we could each do as individual consumers. It’s never too early to start and build a lifetime of consumer habits for environmental sustainability.

  1. Take shorter showers. An average shower in America takes about 8 minutes and takes almost 17 gallons of water. That’s over 4 times the average daily water consumption in Africa. It saves the electricity usage of water heaters as well.
  2. Turn down plastic shopping bags, drinking straws. This applies to any package or even extra paper napkins that you’d turn around and put into trash.
  3. Remind parents to carpool. Offer to go to school or sports practices with friends. Emissions from commuting are one of the top sources of pollution in America. Invite other parents from your school to carpool easily on the FooMoo App.

These are just a few ideas to get your kids started on living a responsible and sustainable life for the benefit of the community and the world.
